Location: Based in Stevenage (please note during the current time, all employees are expected to work from home until further notice)
Salary Range: £43,857 - £46,845 pa (pro rata for part-time)
Hours: 18.5 per week
Contract: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the CLA & Safeguarding Commissioning Team within Specialist Services in Hertfordshire County Council’s Children’s Services department.

The CLA & Safeguarding Commissioning Team is responsible for the effective commissioning and procurement of placements and a range of support services for Children Looked After and Children on the edge of care. We work closely with the Brokerage Accommodation Team (placements team) to fulfil this function.

About the role:

The successful applicant will have a varied role: leading on the oversight of key commissioning projects and procurement activity, being part of the Quality Assurance function and helping to shape the Children’s Cross Regional Arrangements Group (CCRAG), which is a national partnership of children’s commissioners.

About you:

With experience in commissioning and/or social work, alongside delivering or supporting complex projects, you will work collaboratively to ensure improved outcomes for children and young people in care, or on the edge of care. It is essential that you have excellent communication and partnership working skills, as well as strong leadership skills to effectively drive forward initiatives with multiple stakeholders. A competent Team player with a “can do” attitude and supportive approach to working within a Team with a passion and child centred focus to achieving the best possible outcomes for the children and young people of Hertfordshire.

You will understand the needs of children in care and will have the skills and experience to commission services to meet those needs.

An element of the role will be to lead and deliver stakeholder events and attend regional/national meetings requiring the ability to travel to venues.

The successful applicant will be educated to degree level, or with equivalent working experience, and be confident, motivated, solution focused and possess excellent project management and communication skills.  This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience of children’s services commissioning or social care.
