In Housing Needs and Standards we provide a range of housing services, including housing allocations, applications, advice and options. We are committed to meaningful joint working, the prevention of homelessness and continuous improvement in our services.
Reporting to the Senior Specialist Advisor, you will support and develop others within the team to manage the councils housing register and choice based lettings scheme, as well as personally owning more complex casework.
You will be responsible for overseeing a customer’s case right through the council’s allocation journey, including the initial housing application to the tenancy sign-up. You will make sure that every allocation is appropriately vetted and ensure any outstanding arrears are addressed.
You will support the Senior Specialist Advisor to identify ways to best improve our service, and report on key performance indicators, such as the number of households on the housing register and lets within a quarter.
You will be well organised with excellent communication skills and have a strong commitment to providing service excellence.Experience of multi-agency working in a housing or homelessness setting, or experience in allocations or housing management is required, also is an excellent comprehension of the complex needs of homeless clients, as well as the challenges this presents to agencies who work with them.
As a result of working across two councils our area is unique in its mix of environments, including the larger urban area of Eastbourne, the historic county town of Lewes, small towns and villages in and around the National Park and a large area of coastal strip. The work is varied and challenging.
