Consultant Social Worker

Job Title: Consultant Social Worker – UASC CLA & Care Leaver Team
Location: Countywide
Salary Range: From £40,876 pa to £43,857 pa depending on experience plus £4000 market forces payment
Hours: 37 per week
Contract: Permanent

Due to a change in the way we will support our Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children & Care Leavers the opportunity has arisen for a new team within our CLA & Care Leaver Service. Hertfordshire County Council is looking for committed and innovative Consultant Social Worker who has strong leadership skills to join our newly created UASC CLA & Care Leaver Team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape children’s social work by working closely with management while still remaining hands on.

Our Children Looked After & Care Leaver teams are responsible for providing high quality support and planning for children and young people who are in long term foster care, residential care and semi-independent care up until the age of 18. We are then responsible for supporting these young adults as care leavers, via leaving care personal advisors within the team between the ages of 18-25.

You will be supported by a dedicated Health team and Virtual School as well as a Brokerage Team that will find the most suitable placement.

About You:

  • This role will include holding a small caseload of complex work while transitioning into a management position.
  • A role model for good social work practice and use your experience to develop less experienced staff.
  • Passion for achieving better outcomes for vulnerable children and care leavers and this will be demonstrated through applying theory and research to frontline practice.
  • Enthusiasm for continued professional development will be put to the test as you make the transition into your first management role. This will include conducting supervision meetings and supporting other members of the team and providing management cover in the Team Manager’s absence.

We will invest in your professional development to empower you to make positive changes in your career.
