Planning Intern (12 month Fixed Term Contract)

Two, Town Planning interns wanted at Wokingham Borough Council, Berkshire to start September 2021 for 12 months. Are you studying for a Planning, Geography or a degree in a related subject and looking for a placement opportunity? Are you interested in a career in Town Planning? Wokingham is an attractive, historic market town with many Conservation Areas and Listed Buildings. It is located in the prosperous Thames Valley, 40 miles west of London and only 10 minutes by train into Reading.

You will learn how to validate and process planning applications, undertake site visits, investigate breaches of planning regulations and learn about masterplanning and funding for major infrastructure projects. We will rotate you around our different Planning Teams to maximise your exposure to different aspects of Local Authority Planning. We will give you full training and support and for undergraduates studying for planning degrees the year will count towards your RTPI accreditation. We are looking for students with excellent IT and communication skills and in return we can offer you responsibility, a wealth of experience and a generous salary. We are committed to providing early career development opportunities and developing your talent.

In the current circumstances we are all working from home but this will be reviewed throughout the year with an aim of spending time working in the Council offices if Covid regulations permit. A laptop and IT equipment will be provided along with support for remote working. We are looking to recruit undergraduates who will be returning to University in September 2022.  A full driving licence and access to a car is essential.
