West of England Combined Authority (WECA) has an opening for two new posts: a highly skilled Project Manager (1FTE) and a Project Coordinator (0.5FTE) to join the busy People and Skills Service.

This service, which is part of the Business and Skills Directorate, takes a strategic view of the provision of employment, skills and training support on a regional basis to ensure that all our residents can acquire the knowledge and skills they need to access or progress in work. With the impact of Covid-19, our Regional Recovery Taskforce has provided funds for us to set up new projects to help address emerging issues and to ultimately help people access work. The People & Skills Project Manager (Recovery Fund Initiatives) will lead and manage two of these new projects: the Digital Project and the Community Recovery Project. These major projects (worth a combined £3.5m) are a key pillar of support to our residents, and their successful delivery is critical.  

Your role will be to take on the development, launch, delivery and monitoring of these projects, using your project management skills and significant previous experience. You will build on best practice from within the team and industry standards, and ensure that the projects align with our existing wide range of projects and services. Reporting to the People & Skills Programme Manager, you will bring a highly collaborative and ‘can do’ approach, with excellent interpersonal skills, alongside your planning and delivery skills. The service operates in a fast paced and demanding environment but you will be working in a close knit and supportive team, whose work adds value to people’s lives every day.
