Job Title: Welfare Benefits Interviewer
Location: Farnham House, Stevenage
Salary Range: £20,903 pa progressing to £22,183 pa pro rata for part time hours
Hours: 18.5 per week
You will join a well-established benefit take-up project which advises users of Adult Care Services, carers and the parents of children with disabilities about the welfare benefits they can get. Your role will be to assist with completion of claim forms, particularly personal independence payment, disability living allowance and carer’s allowance. This will usually be done over the phone although you will also need to visit some clients in their own homes when appropriate. You will need to complete and maintain electronic claim forms, records and case details. You will work closely with welfare benefit advisers and will undertake certain tasks to assist them in their welfare benefit casework.
You will need excellent IT and telephone skills. You will also have an excellent understanding of confidentiality and sensitivity within a working environment, an awareness of the multiple issues that service users and carers face and the ability to interact sympathetically with them.
In line with government guidance the team is currently working remotely, from home, where possible, although visits to the office base at Farnham House, Stevenage may be required at times. Equipment and support has been made available to assist our team with working remotely. When lockdown measures ease and it is safe to do so, you will be required to undertake some travel countywide to visit service users, so you must have a full driving licence and access to transport.
