Team Leader - Food and Health & Safety
Salary: Starting from £45,175 to £48,370 p.a.
Grade: Grade 9
Hours: 37 hours per week
Place of work: Flexible, home working and a base at Portland House. (We could consider entirely home working during 2021 for the right candidate).

This is a fabulous leadership opportunity for an experienced Environment Health Practitioner. As part of a Wellbeing department, you will lead a Food and Health and Safety team, which has been at the forefront of our Covid-19 response and our core public health work
We are a shared team across two authorities - Adur and Worthing Councils - situated between Brighton and Arun within the County of West Sussex.
This job requires a passionate and dedicated environmental health leader who enjoys working with teams, businesses and communities to bring about long-term change and to make a real difference. We have a strong focus on delivering wise regulation, focusing on a balanced approach between enabling and supporting our businesses and communities and, where appropriate, taking enforcement action.
As part of forward thinking Councils, there are significant opportunities to work beyond the scope of environmental health and to collaborate with our wider Council teams to ensure that what we do is not only effective but coherent and joined up across our other departments.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about public health and who has a strong focus on leading, developing and supporting your team and working across other teams through multi-disciplinary working. Our food and health and safety team has a huge amount of expertise and you’ll need to harness that to best effect. You must be quick to learn and have flexible leadership styles and capabilities with an openness to learn and effective at building relationships.
You must be an Environmental Health professional with experience in Food and Health and Safety. You’ll have an environmental health qualification at BSc (Hons) level and experience of leading people, a team, and have an openness to developing yourself as a leader. You must be flexible in your approach to leadership and a strong emphasis on being inclusive and person centred in your approach.
