SEND Annual Review, Monitoring and Placement Officer

We want all of our children and young people to be able to fulfil their potential in life.  Our SEND Officers will carry out the LA statutory duties in relation to Education, Health and Care Planning processes for Children and young people with special educational needs 

You will be given the time you need to support Children and young people – where we are known for our high standards. 

You will be able to manage an allocated caseload of children and young people with special educational needs, in relation to the Education, Health and Care planning process, in a timely and compliant way.

What it’s like working in our team… 

The service consists of a multi-disciplinary team that works with children, young people, schools, colleges, businesses, universities, social workers and foster carers to support young people through school and onto either further education, employment or training. 

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training… 

  • To be responsible for an allocated caseload of children and young people with special educational needs, following the processes and procedures as set out in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice 0-25 years (SEND Code) 2015 
  • Ensure all SEN databases and recording/monitoring systems are robustly updated. 
  • Ensure Amended Plans are issued within timescales, are fully compliant and of a high quality. Particular attention to be given in terms of quality and specificity of advice, that the child or young person’s voice is heard with a clear golden thread throughout.  
  • To feedback into quality assurance and improvement systems, proactively identify areas for improvement and or training opportunities.  
  • To develop and maintain close working relationships with a wide range of internal and external partner organisations. 
  • To support and challenge settings with regard to approaches to inclusion and the requirements.

What we’re looking for… 

To be considered for this role, you must have SEN experience, with time spent in a casework officer capacity with specific focus on the Annual Review process. It is essential that you have delivered to key stakeholders, working to set deadlines, using your knowledge of the Children and Families Act, and SEN Code of Practice.
