The role  

We are seeking an enthusiastic Committee Services Support Officer to provide support to the Committee Services Manager and the Committee Services Team in managing the Council’s democratic decision making processes via meeting management 

This is a casual post that will be paid at an hourly rate (with a minimum of 2 hours paid for each meeting clerked). 

The successful candidate will be expected to attend meetings as allocated (predominantly in the evening, starting from 7pm). 

Main responsibilities 

To assist the Committee Services Manager and to support and cover for the Committee Services Team. 

To attend personally (or virtually) and clerk such meetings as allocated, including agenda preparation, the taking of notes and the compilation of minutes. 

To encourage other departments and officers to respond to pre-set deadlines and requirements in order that agendas and minutes are produced on time and meet all statutory requirements, particularly in relation to public access to information. 

Following all meetings, to ensure that such administrative matters and correspondence that fall under the Committee Services Department are carried out.  

Essential qualifications/experience

Educated to A level standard or equivalent. 

Experience in an office environment undertaking a wide range of administrative duties. 

Desirable qualifications/experience

Administration qualification e.g. NVQ 

Note taking and minute writing

Local Authority experience.
