Our work focuses on three priority areas: Health & Wellbeing, Learning & Skills, and Social Inclusion, alongside a core theme of work in Football and Sports Development. These are all underpinned by our promise to deliver accessible opportunities.

Summary of your role:

Are you a focused and motivated team player looking to lead on a new Social Inclusion initiative based in Harrow?

Your main focus will be to develop, deliver, and coordinate the ‘Chances Programme’ to support young people aged 8-17 years old at risk of offending and creating mechanisms for preventing youth violence.

You will build a project aimed to improve physical literacy, increase school attendance, lower NEET status, and reduce offending and re-offending.

You will be required to teach within school settings, alongside activating the mentoring programme.

Your key responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Delivering both sport-based and personal development sessions, providing a high quality experience, with an inclusive approach in school and during community hours and weekends.
  • Developing trust and engaging with the young people, and being seen as a positive role model; a go-to person.
  • Building strong and positive relationships with a range of key stakeholders.
  • Engaging with 100 to 140 young people aged between 8-17 years old, who meet the programme criteria.
  • Being the direct point of contact for partners on all matters relating to the programme including: teaching, technical and administrative.
  • Managing and overseeing the recruitment and selection process of all young people.
  • Planning and delivering a school focused programme to raise young peoples’ educational achievements and physical activity.
  • Referring into the Trust’s PL Kicks programme via the PL Kicks Manager.
  • Writing reports to include data statistics, impact and case studies.

You Must Have:

  • A proven track record of working with hard-to-reach young people in an educational or a youth work setting.
  • Experience of working, developing, and managing key stakeholder partnerships within the social inclusion/youth work sector.
  • Experience of writing development plans, work programmes and reports.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills – both verbal and written
  • A flexible approach to work and be able to work unsociable hours (including some evenings and weekends)
  • In-date Safeguarding Children & First Aid certificates (Please make sure the dates are added onto the application)
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use

You would ideally have, but not vital:

  • A Youth Support Worker Qualification or Equivalent
  • National Governing Body sports coaching qualifications

What is in it for you?

  • Opportunity to join an award-winning charity and work alongside a high-quality delivery team, determined to use the positive power of sport, physical activity and learning for social good.
  • Ability to benefit from a range of training and development opportunities
  • Free gym usage at our two Community Centres
  • Flexible working environment
  • 25 days of Annual Leave entitlement plus bank holidays
  • Great Trust pension scheme
