With the support of the YOT Head of Service, Team Managers and Youth Justice Officers you will provide direct services to young people subject to Statutory Court orders and out of court disposals to provide case management, supervision and interventions

Youth Offending Suport Ofifcers are required to complete accurate and thorough assessments using AssetPlus. They will ensure that plans are coordinated, innovative, creative and centred around the young person’s needs and risks. Youth Offending Support Officers provide written and verbal reports to the Youth and Crown Court and acting as Court Officer when required.

Candidates will have the skills to work effectively in assessing young people within a multi-agency setting to safeguard children, prevent re-offending; protect victims and the wider community, as well as embedding a trauma informed approach to ensure we obtain meaningful outcomes for  chldren and their families.

The role operates within a diverse borough, with children and young people who demonstrate a complex range of needs; showing empathy and understanding are a daily part of the job.


Applicants will have knowledge of the legislation relating to children and young people including the Children’s Act 1989 and 2004, Crime and Disorder Act 1989, Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012. Knowledge of relevant Key Performance Indicators and National Standards.

The post holder will have:

• Previous experience of working with challenging Young People (e.g. Police, Probation, Schools, Criminal Justice, Youth Work).

• Experience of writing reports

• Experience of working in a multi-agency/public/voluntary setting

• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

• Have an enhanced knowledge and understanding of the principles and processes of restorative justice principles

• Experience of performing case management tasks including assessment, intervention planning and delivery

• Educated to Degree level and/or equivalent experience
