Social Worker (Disabled Children's Team)

We are looking for an enthusiastic Qualified Social Worker who, as a minimum, has completed their ‘Assessed and Supported Employment in Social Work’ (ASYE) and has at least one years post qualifying experience.

In return for your commitment, we can offer you a supportive work environment, good quality supervision and training, 28 days annual leave, rising to a maximum of 33 days, and pension and family friendly policies.  At the conclusion of three years in post you will receive an additional £15,000 and 8 weeks leave.  This means you can add your existing leave to take up to three months off for a sabbatical.

You will need to commit to working in a busy team and provide high quality assessments and interventions to children with a range of disabilities, including learning and physical. Being a successful Social Worker in the Disabled Children’s Team involves developing and maintaining good quality professional relationships with children, their families and other agencies and contributing to a busy and developing service.

You need to be flexible and self-disciplined and will undertake the full range of children’s social work including Child in Need, Children in Care, Child Protection and court work.

The Disabled Children’s Team sits within Education and is part of the SEN and Learning Support Team, and is made up of Social Workers; Occupational Therapists; Family Support Worker’s and Business Support.

Based in the market town of Newbury, you will work throughout the West Berkshire area. Newbury itself offers excellent shopping facilities, high performing schools, good amenities and transport links.


This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
