Senior Planning Officer (Applications Team)

Horsham District Council has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planning Officer within our Applications team.

As Senior Planning Officer in the applications team you will take ownership of the full application process for complex minor development schemes from pre application discussions, through the application process, attend planning committees, conditions discharge and defending the Council at appeals in the event of refusals.

You will manage a varied caseload of housing, commercial and other types of complex applications. You will be a motivated individual who has experience of dealing with complex cases, has a willingness to learn and is adaptable to change.

Please contact the Applications Team Leader Guy Everest on 01403 215633 or the Major Applications Team Leader Adrian Smith on 01403 215460 with any questions for this post.

Horsham District Council encourages and supports their employees to have a healthy work life balance by supporting their professional development as well as offering 27 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata), a generous benefits package and an online platform offering discounts from online retailers. Staff are eligible to join a contributory pension scheme where the Council contributes 20% of pensionable salary. The Council also provides reimbursement for professional subscriptions and access to a car lease scheme.

If you would like to apply for the role, we highly recommend you show clearly within the ‘Experience Section’ of the application form how you meet the essential criteria detailed within the Role Profile when applying. If you do not make this clear, it is unlikely you will be shortlisted for interview.
