NCS and The Role of the Youth Support Worker

National Citizen Service with YC Hertfordshire is a fantastic opportunity for 16 and 17 year-olds. It brings together young people from diverse backgrounds, providing them with an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience and the prospect of making a real difference in the world.

We are looking for seasonal team members to be NCS Youth Support Workers, willing to help guide young people every step of the way as they take on the NCS challenge, gain new skills and make new friends.

The NCS programme as a Youth Support Worker consists of either a 2-week non-residential wave or a 3-week residential wave.

The three-week wave consists of:

Week 1 - Be Epic - a 5-day / 4-night residential camping trip supporting young people as they take part in team-building and outdoor activities such as raft-building and high ropes.

Week 2 - Live Life - a 5-day non-residential at a local venue helping young people develop life skills through bespoke workshops such as health and well-being and budgeting.

Week 3 - Do Good - Assisting young people to make a positive change in their local community. Again, this week is 5 days non-residential. Workers need to be able to travel independently to the relevant base location.

The two-week programme consists of Week 2 and 3 above and is non-residential in its entirety. To be considered for this role you must be available to work Monday to Friday for either 2 or 3 weeks over the summer. The dates and locations we are looking to recruit for are listed below:

Wave 1 - Monday 5th July to Friday 23rd July
3-week residential programme
Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, or Hatfield areas

Wave 2 - Monday 12th July to Friday 30th July
3-week residential programme
Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, or Hatfield areas

Wave 3 - Monday 26th July to Friday 6th August
2-week non-residential programme
Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, or Hatfield areas

Wave 4 - Monday 2nd August to Friday 13th August

Coach travel, accommodation and meals are provided during the residential week.
