The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is recruiting two Senior Public Health Programme Officers to work within their multidisciplinary Public Health team. This post will focus on adults – in particular health improvement (physical activity, diet, alcohol and smoking) and adults with complex lives. This is an exciting time to join a growing public health team and shape the delivery of public health within the Royal Borough.

The Public Health Team in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead combines specialist skills and expertise with a creative and collaborative approach to improve the health and wellbeing of residents and reduce inequalities. The team is part of a wider network of public health teams across East Berkshire and works closely with the East Berkshire Shared Public Health Team and the Strategic Director of Public Health.
We will give you the support and resources you need to do your job well and provide a great opportunity for you to learn new skills, develop and progress.
You will work, with support from other public health team members, to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training:
- Lead on work to understand the local health needs and make recommendations to improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities.
- Implement, with the support of service leads, specialist public health programmes.
- Provide specialist advice, leadership and influence to inform work across the wider council as well as with external stakeholders.
- Work across all three domains of public health (health improvement, health protection and healthcare public health).
- Contribute to the commissioning of public health services.
What we’re looking for…
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can understand local health needs and design and deliver evidence-based public health programmes, taking a lead role where appropriate. You will be an excellent communicator and an innovative thinker who is able to deliver accurate and quality work under pressure. You will have a degree or extensive equivalent experience in a relevant field (ideally public health or another health-related field).
