An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a fast-paced and innovative communications team helping to manage Knowsley Council’s web presence.
Knowsley Council is looking for a Digital Communications Officer to cover maternity leave (approximately for 9-12 months)
The postholder will be responsible for the day to day management of the council’s corporate website, staff intranet and suite of micro-sites. This will involve managing content updates, keeping software current and building web pages to help present often complex information in an engaging and easy to understand format. Acting as a champion for online accessibility, you’ll support a diverse range of projects, from Council Tax to the promotion of the new Shakespeare North Playhouse in Prescot. You’ll also be the day to day point of contact with external web agencies and hosting providers.
Previous experience is essential for this role. Knowledge of using Wordpress to build websites is essential, experience of other CMS such as Kentico and Sharepoint would be an advantage. Solid knowledge of current digital best practice and legislation, including laws in relation to communication in the public sector, online accessibility and GDPR is essential, as well as a good understanding of the WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.
