Library Assistant

Job Title: Library Assistant

To assist the Library Manager in the day-to-day management of library operations in HMP The Mount Library.

The postholder will work as part of a team, to help make the resources of the library and information service available to all customers, including those at a disadvantage. Duties will be undertaken in compliance with all current prison service rules and regulations.

HM Prison The Mount is a Category C men’s prison. The library service is delivered under a contract with the Ministry of Justice. The successful candidate will have to undergo enhanced DBS checks and Prison Service security clearance and will have to complete Prison Service security training.

Hertfordshire County Council have awarded the contract to deliver the Library Service to Libraries for Life, an independent organisation with charitable status. The proposed date for transition to Libraries for Life is still to be confirmed. At the point of transition all Hertfordshire County Council Libraries employees will be transferred to Libraries for Life under TUPE rules and regulations.
