The Place Team in Medway and Gravesham Legal Services is looking to recruit two lawyers to complement our busy and friendly team. We are looking for a Contracts and Procurement Lawyer and a Litigation and Regulatory Lawyer to take on prominent roles with the team. Both roles offer an excellent opportunity to hold a varied and challenging case load with the ability to have a positive effect on the outcome.
The successful candidate for the Procurement and Contracts Lawyer will take a leading role in the Contracts team working at the forefront of the Council’s ambitious projects. In addition, they will have excellent drafting and negotiation skills and have experience of providing advice on a wide variety of contract and procurement issues at a high level.
The Litigation and Regulatory lawyer will play a key role in the Council’s litigation team handling a mixed case load of Civil and Criminal litigation in a variety of courts and tribunals, this is a wide-ranging role covering regulatory committees as well as court work and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in these arenas.
The successful applicants will play a key role in the Place team, which forms part of a Shared Legal Service with Gravesham Borough Council and covers the following areas of law:
Property, Planning, Commercial (including contracts and procurement), Highways, Civil Litigation, Criminal Litigation, Licensing, Trading Standards, Consumer Protection and Employment.
The team is mostly based at Gun Wharf, Chatham but the team, including the successful applicants, may be required to spend some time at the Gravesham offices.
The successful applicant will comply with quality assurance procedures, service level agreements and performance management requirements in order to meet the expectations of the clients.
You will contribute towards and encourage a culture of learning, knowledge sharing and excellence within Legal Services.
