About the team
Part of a three-year funded project supported by Children in Need and the Garfield Weston Foundation until March 2024, the Children & Families service provides tailored support to families who often aren’t getting help through standard routes. Our focus is on learning from the experiences these families have and letting the voices of families and children experiencing homelessness and poor housing shape what we do. We also work closely in partnership with other local community groups and other organisations to ensure we provide the best possible support.

About the role
Providing support to families who are facing housing and related welfare benefits and debt issues, you’ll work collaboratively with local community groups and agencies to identify and tackle the common housing barriers that local communities face. As well as identifying and addressing housing needs, you will also make sure that families can access appropriate hub services, e.g. legal representation and intensive support, when required. And, when it comes to signposting and referring families to other services, when appropriate, again we’ll count on you. Put simply, you’ll be a key part of the change we want to see for children and families, collaborating with colleagues in the hub as necessary to develop and deliver the very best advice and support.

About you
Proactive, creative and commercially aware, your proven relevant experience has given you a good understanding of safeguarding and working with children and families. You also have a good track record of providing advice and are used to preparing, planning and delivering briefings and group work sessions. What’s more, you enjoy working collaboratively and are great at building effective working relationships, both with service users and a variety of stakeholders. Someone who values and respects others’ opinions, equally, you’re not afraid to challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, where appropriate, to help improve the way we do things. Last but not least, you’re proficient using Microsoft Office applications, while the ability to type is desirable.
