Salary: Starting from £24,982 to £29,577  p.a.

Grade: Grade 5

Hours: 37 hours per week

Place of work: Portland House/Working from Home

Closing date: 21st April 2021

Duties of the post:

Come and join our friendly Development Management team and help us to shape and plan the future development of Adur District and Worthing Borough on the south coast.

Working for the Councils provides a unique experience of working for two separate planning authorities combined as a joint service. It is an exciting time to work in planning at the Councils as there are a variety of planning challenges to be faced.

The area is subject to significant development pressure and a number of major regeneration schemes are planned.  Both Authorities are preparing new Local Plans seeking to balance the need to protect the environment with the need to meet future housing and employment needs.

Development Management Post:

We are looking for a recently qualified or experienced Planning Officer to join our Worthing Development Management Team. The successful candidate will need to have a good knowledge of the planning system and be able to deal with a high and varied caseload of planning applications. Knowledge of the Local Plan process is also desirable as the successful applicant will need to be able to apply the policies of the adopted Worthing Core Strategy and emerging Worthing Local Plan in determining planning applications.

The post holder will need to be recently qualified in planning or closely related discipline and ideally have experience of working in Development Management.

The postholder will also need to demonstrate that they are able to work flexibly and be IT literate since the Council extensively uses digital platforms to provide its services.
