More about the role:

The School Improvement Team is based within Childrens Services and provides advice and support to 132, lower, primary, middle, secondary and upper school across Central Bedfordshire.

 

A SEND Advisor is a demanding role supporting schools and council officers.  As an advisory teacher you will:

  • Work with schools to secure an outstanding understanding the statutory processes.
  • Visit schools to develop alongside SENCO’s strategies to support young people
  • Provide impartial advice in respect of specific cases and more general practice

You will also work with other CBC officers to:

  • Set up and operate a SENCO helpline.
  • Establish regular meetings and training.
  • Encourage the sharing of good practice.
  • Support the statutory SEND Team and the statutory process.

To join us, you’ll need a background gained in a school or a local authority setting. It is important that your experience includes time spent as a SENCO or similar – and that you have a proven record of both working with children with a Special Educational Needs as well as working successfully alongside parents and education professionals.

You will need to be able to inspire others, build strong and productive relationships and have a strong specialist knowledge in respect of SEND. Knowledge of safeguarding legislation regarding young people will also be essential.
