Base location: Watling House, Dunstable with remote working

The School Improvement Team is based within Childrens Services and provides advice and support to 132, lower, primary, middle, secondary and upper school across Central Bedfordshire.
A SEND Advisor is a demanding role supporting schools and council officers. As an advisory teacher you will:
- Work with schools to secure an outstanding understanding the statutory processes.
- Visit schools to develop alongside SENCO’s strategies to support young people
- Provide impartial advice in respect of specific cases and more general practice
You will also work with other CBC officers to:
- Set up and operate a SENCO helpline.
- Establish regular meetings and training.
- Encourage the sharing of good practice.
- Support the statutory SEND Team and the statutory process.
To join us, you’ll need a background gained in a school or a local authority setting. It is important that your experience includes time spent as a SENCO or similar – and that you have a proven record of both working with children with a Special Educational Needs as well as working successfully alongside parents and education professionals.
You will need to be able to inspire others, build strong and productive relationships and have a strong specialist knowledge in respect of SEND. Knowledge of safeguarding legislation regarding young people will also be essential.
