We are currently recruiting for a HR Consultant to join us on a 1-year fixed term contact.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our employee relations team at Medway Council in the role of HR Consultant supporting, coaching and engaging our managers to deliver their service plans through their people.

You will be confident in providing advice and guidance to managers and senior managers and be able to build and maintain positive relationships with individuals at all levels of the organisation, including Trade Union representatives, to deliver business focused solutions.

You will provide expert advice to managers on grievance, disciplinary and performance and capability matters, some of which may be complex, and undertake the formal consultation process in redundancy, or similar situations affecting employee terms and conditions, including TUPE transfer.  Provide support on management investigations, hearings and appeal panels procedures.

You will be working as part of a collaborative, supportive and customer focused team reporting into a Senior HR Consultant under the leadership of the Deputy Head of HR – Operations & Employee Relations.  The team also includes HR Consultant – Schools, HR Investigations Officer, HR policy Manager and a HR support team. 

You will be Level 5 CIPD qualified or equivalent and have experience of working within HR, with up-to-date knowledge of employment law and best practice and have high professional standards and be able to manage a range of cases.
