Halton integrated Contact and Referral Team (iCART) is looking for an Early Help Family Worker to be a key player within the multi-agency front door for Children and Families. This team is the referral point for both safeguarding and early help. You will deal with early help referrals for this role. You will need to have previous experience of working with families of children aged 0-18 years who are dealing with issues such as mental health, substance misuse, domestic abuse, CSE and CCE, housing and financial difficulties.
The role includes gathering information from a range of systems, liaison with multi-agency colleagues and families in order to identify risks and strengths and recommend an appropriate pathway of support for children and families. When appropriate you will advise that a MAP (early help) assessment is completed and will identify an appropriate navigator (lead). You will also deal with social care colleagues and managers with regards to cases you identify in need of a social work screening, due to safeguarding concerns that you have identified. You will act as the expert for holistic elements of family work including behaviour management and parenting support within the team. Work needs to be completed to a high quality and must meet timescales.
Whilst you will initially be based within the iCART service, you may, in the future, be required to undertake Family Work in the community within one of the locality teams. This would involve undertaking the MAP navigator role and completing direct work in areas such as positive parenting, behaviour management and family relationships. In addition, you will may be required to work with other professionals to deliver group work and training to parents, carers and young people.
You will need to hold a level 3 qualification in a related topic and have experience of working with children and families in a social care / early help setting. Experience of working in a front door (referral / MASH) team would be beneficial but it is not essential.
