Do you want to be part of a committed team, helping the Council to achieve its ambitions in relation to growth and regeneration? There will be opportunities to be involved in major projects, and to make a real difference to the District and its residents.

We are expanding our team and updating the way we work. We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified individual to act as Senior Legal Officer to the Council in relation to non-contentious work. You will have experience in at least one of the areas of work carried out by the team, which include contract, planning and commercial property. We welcome applicants from all sectors, and with different levels of experience and specialism. Support, mentoring and training will be available as needed. You will need to have a flexible, positive, ‘can do’ approach; a lawyer who enjoys finding solutions to problems.

The Council’s modern headquarters are located in the centre of the historic market town of Newark, which has excellent train links for Nottingham and Lincoln, and lies on the East Coast mainline. Efficient home-working arrangements are well established.

As part of the role you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of flexible working, a generous holiday allowance, discounted staff parking and gym membership and a very competitive occupational pension. We’re an ambitious, modern and forward thinking Council and we’re looking for somebody with the same values as ours to join us.

For an informal chat about the role please contact Sue Bearman ( or 01636 655935).

Closing Date – 12:00 noon, 17 May 2021
