As a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Coast to Capital exists to provide strategic leadership to drive economic growth and the sustainable success of the beautiful, vibrant, and exceptionally well connected area of East Surrey, West Sussex and Brighton and Hove.  It has secured over £300 million of public investment Coast to Capital and now has an even more important role in supporting the recovery of the economy.  Coast to Capital is a collaborative organisation which is passionate about supporting the economic success of the area and making a real difference. 

Accountable Body (BHCC)

Brighton & Hove City Council will be the Accountable Body for Coast to Capital from 1 April 2021 and will operate the statutory financial and legal assurance function on their behalf. The post holder will be employed on Brighton & Hove City Council terms and conditions and will have a reporting line to the S151 Chief Finance Officer in Brighton & Hove City Council.

We are seeking a self-motivated, articulate and competent individual to provide and oversee a full range of financial services to the Coast to Capital LEP. The successful candidate will need to be highly organised, have excellent written and oral communication skills, including good presentation and report-writing skills, with an ability to operate at a strategic financial planning level. You will be able to build good working relationships with senior LEP executives, LEP and Accountable Body staff, delivery partners, and outsourced providers. You will need to have good knowledge and experience of financial management, financial administration, governance and internal controls, financial planning and appraisal.

In this role you will be supporting senior LEP executives including preparing a wide range of reports for the LEP Board, Investment Committee, Audit & Risk Committee and other funding and governance meetings. The role will work with the S151 Chief Finance Officer of the Accountable Body to ensure that effective governance and internal controls are in place and that compliance is maintained. You will be responsible for the management and oversight of funding agreements as well as every aspect of financial management and accounting from financial monitoring through to closure of the accounts, working with the outsourced bookkeeper, auditor and payroll provider to provide a full range of services.

You will also need to have good analytical skills to interpret data and support robust decision-making and will assist in the development of projects and proposals as the LEP develops its business model and regional approach.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
