West Berkshire Council has a rare opportunity for full or part time secondment opportunity for a registered Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team. Joint Care Provider Services provides an integrated health and social care pathway for people requiring a care package to facilitate their discharge from hospital. The Occupational Therapists work closely with individuals once they return home to focus on goal setting and getting people back to their previous level of independence. The Occupational Therapists work very closely with the WBC Reablement carers as well as external care providers in ensuring that situations are safe and person centred. They work alongside Social Workers and Social Care Practitioners where long term care needs are identified and safeguarding or mental capacity issues have been highlighted.
The role will require you to have knowledge of reablement strategies, equipment provision, moving and positioning risk assessments, single carer management, postural management, minor adaptations and some involvement in the DFG process. We also have a number of exciting projects ongoing, including the provision of specialist equipment to improve and/or reduce long term care packages.
We are ideally looking to offer the successful candidate the full number of hours advertised above. We may however consider offering less hours than advertised providing they meet the requirements of the role and service which will be determined by the recruiting manager.
This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
