Social Worker

2x Social Worker Initial Assessment Team SCP 24-31 £28,672- £34,728 per annum

The initial assessment team is based in municipal buildings Widnes and is a dynamic team responsible for the assessment of adults with a range of presentations including, Older people, those with physical disabilities, learning disabilities and adults with drug and alcohol issues and those faced with homelessness, who have referred for social work assessments for the first time. The Team is responsible for signposting them to appropriate services and undertaking Care Act assessments and Safeguarding Enquiries. The team works closely with a range of professionals across housing, health, police, drug and alcohol services and provider services.

You will be a qualified social worker with experience of undertaking statutory social work assessments. You will be able to work well under pressure within a fast paced and challenging team thriving on the personal and professional reward gained from working in such diverse and varied role.  You will have a thirst for professional learning and developing your practice through formal education, on the job learning and your own pursuit of relevant articles and research to support your professional development.

From the regular Social Work Matters forum chaired by the Principal Social Worker, access to high quality learning opportunities through the local Social Work Teaching partnership to learning and development initiatives within each team including Action learning sets and journal clubs as well regular support and supervision focusing on reflective learning and your professional development.

As an essential car user you will receive an annual Essential Car User Allowance (£960 per annum, paid monthly) and Mileage allowance. There is free parking available at all HBC office bases and bridge tolls and any other parking costs incurred as part of your working day will be reimbursed.

Applications are invited from all Social Workers including Newly Qualified Social Workers who are able to demonstrate they are to formally gain their qualification, and be eligible to register with Social Work England, within the next 3 months. Please confirm which level of post you are applying for as directed within your application.

If you are applying for this position as a Newly Qualified Social Worker, you will be expected to undertake the ASYE programme. Continued employment in the role is subject to successful completion of the programme.
