Tonbridge and Malling Borough is an attractive mixture of town and countryside, where the protection and enhancement of trees, woodlands and the landscape have a high priority.
The Council receives a wide variety of development proposals including significant housing developments and challenging redevelopment and infill schemes. The Borough presents a diverse range of planning interest and issues. A substantial proportion lies with the Green Belt, there are significant areas within the AoNBs. Conservation Areas and Listed Buildings also figure significantly in our work.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Development Management team for a Tree & Landscape Officer. Key duties of the post will include dealing with all aspects of tree preservation and providing specialist advice to planning and enforcement case officers to ensure that landscape matters are taken fully into consideration throughout the planning process.
What we are looking for:
You should possess enthusiasm, be well motivated and have excellent communication skills. You should possess a relevant first degree (e.g. Geography, Environment, Design) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture.
Chartered membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) would also be desirable.
A full driving licence is essential.
You must be able to demonstrate a high level of experience as a landscape specialist working within a planning environment and giving effective landscape advice, have a high degree of autonomy, independently managing your own workload whilst positively engaging with the wider team and Borough Councillors.
