An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a lively, dynamic and driven fundraising Events Team. Over the last decade, Breast Cancer Now has built up a strong events function, with community and events currently accounting for nearly a quarter of the charity’s overall voluntary income.
We are now looking for an experienced and driven Events Manager to lead a team and help us to continue to deliver our targets and identify new opportunities for our challenge events portfolio – currently comprising of running events, triathlons, cycling events, overseas and UK challenges. You will support the creation and delivery of the Events strategy, developing a varied and impactful portfolio which positions Breast Cancer Now as the go-to charity for events.
With the support of the Senior Events Manager and Head of Events, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of the London Marathon (Income target of £750K) and their own budget areas working to agreed targets, maximising income, and minimising expenditure through innovative stewardship and strong budget management to maintain engagement and retention of supporters. They will also have line management (not all direct) for one Event Officers, one Event Executive and one Event Co-ordinator.
This past year has been incredibly challenging within the charity events sector, with many of our events on hold until social distancing measures ease. At Breast Cancer Now we have worked hard to still create and deliver meaningful fundraising events for our supporters and are now excitedly looking ahead to a busy live events season.
We’re looking for someone with experience of successfully delivering events programmes, including recruitment of participants, development of supporter journeys and stewardship communications to meet net income and supporter retention targets.
You will be an excellent relationship builder, with knowledge of the charity events sector. You will also be an experienced line manager able to develop your line reports. You will also have demonstrable knowledge of setting and meeting financial targets to ensure a good return of investment for the charity.
As well as leading a high performing team we are looking for someone with experience of successfully delivering marketing and recruitment plans, developing supporter journeys and stewardship communications. You will be experienced in delivering charity events and possess outstanding organisational, communication and marketing skills. You will need to have built excellent relationships with third party event organisers, tour operators and suppliers to the overall benefit of your organisation.
