About the role

We are currently looking for motivated people to join our fantastic, forward thinking team.  With the flexibility afforded to us through the Orbis partnership we are able to offer an Auditor role based at East Sussex County Council and a Senior Auditor role within the Counter Fraud team, based at Surrey County Council. These roles are offered on a full time and/or part time basis.

Both roles are offered on a permanent contract basis, will be predominantly internal audit based, albeit the Senior Auditor role will lead and support on counter fraud activities when appropriate.

At the time of this advert, everyone within our service is currently working from home.  Assessments and interviews will be undertaken either in person or via MS Teams in line with government guidance.  Regardless, you will need to possess the flexibility and skills to support remote induction to the team and to develop effective working relationships with colleagues and clients remotely.

Who are Orbis Internal Audit?

Orbis Internal Audit is a unique concept, providing Internal Audit and Counter Fraud services across East Sussex County Council, Brighton and Hove City Council and Surrey County Council.  We are unique in that the entire team delivers work not only to their own sovereign authority but also to other partners, clients and customers, maximising the impact, efficiency and effectiveness of our service and resources.  This creates great opportunities for everyone within the service to learn and understand how different organisations work.

What qualifications do I need?

You do not have to have a formal accounting/audit qualification or extensive knowledge of finance functions. However, a willingness to learn new things every day is essential as are transferrable skills; particularly important is the requirement to be able to maintain excellent customer relationships.

A background in counter-fraud or some auditing experience would be an advantage should you be interested in the Senior Auditor role.

Successful candidates will be self-motivated and able to work on their own initative and within a team. The ability to undertake work to specified timeframes and budgets is crucial.

What’s the remuneration?

Your contract and terms of employment will be based on those in place at your ‘sovereign’ employing authority, different employing authorities attract different pay and benefits.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
