Temporary (18-month Fixed Term Contract)

Salary £23,541 pa - £25,991 pa

(37 hours per week)

The Council offices are in the centre of Haywards Heath with free staff parking and within walking distance of the mainline station.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible person to join our busy drainage team based within the Corporate Estates and Facilities Business Unit.  You will work closely with our small team of 2 Drainage Engineers, providing a variety of administrative support to enable them to achieve their service goals.

You will be an organised person with excellent computer and administration skills and an eye for detail. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel are essential.  Excellent communication skills are important – as is an approachable and friendly manner and the ability to manage enquiries from members of the public, Council Members, staff from other services and our contractors.   

Excellent written skills are also required to accurately record information and deal with correspondence.  You will also be raising work orders and processing payments, reviewing and responding to planning applications and processing Ordinary Watercourse Consents.

Training on the job will be provided.  Experience of working in a flood and drainage, planning environment or in a construction related field would be beneficial.
