The role of Energy Support Officer is an exciting new post within the Repairs and Maintenance Section of Council Housing, to provide a tenant focused energy advice service and contribute towards the Council’s approach to the Climate Change Emergency.
The post holder will work with our tenants and give them practical, technical and financial advice about how to control appliances, manage their energy consumption and sign post tenants to a range of financial and advisory services.
The work will be varied and will require good organisation and confidence whilst working with people. You will visit all new tenants and hold energy surgeries. You will also provide a referral service; offer advice to Tenants experiencing fuel poverty and help them make informed choices about tariffs and reducing utility bills and access to financial benefits and support.
The role will also support green energy initiatives, administer our EPC register, and work with our partners and colleagues to promote energy efficiency.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to travel throughout the entire district and visit tenants in their homes a range or other estate locations. Transport will be provided through pooled vehicles.
This role is permanent and the hours of work for this position are 37 per week. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
This post is based at the Repairs and Maintenance Section of White Lund Depot, White Lund, although it is anticipated that most of your time will be spent time with tenants in their homes.
The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
You may be required to undertake Standby duties to cover out of hours work.
