Virtual School Teacher Consultant (SEN Lead)

West Berkshire’s Virtual School is looking to recruit an experienced and diligent worker to join the team as our SEN Lead. As the champion for children in care with an education, health and care plan (EHCP), you will chair and record termly personal education planning (PEP) meetings and liaise with schools and children’s services to ensure these children make good progress from agreed starting points. 

You will have a close working relationship with special educational needs teams both in West Berkshire and in the other areas where our children are placed. Subject to the government guidance, the post will involve travelling to chair PEP meetings in West Berkshire schools and further afield, so having access to a car is essential.

This post is for a fixed term from 01 November 2021 to 31st July 2022 and is to cover a maternity leave within the team, although an earlier start date may be possible.

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
