At Welwyn Hatfield we are ambitious in modernizing our services to ensure this is a place for everybody. We are a forward-thinking council which puts our customers first. We know that in order to provide the best for our residents and visitors, we need to do the same for our people. We have set out to make our workplaces vibrant and happy places to be, places where our people feel safe, content and valued.

We are committed to flexible working and achieving a good work-life balance with a mix of office and homeworking available. During this unprecedented time, we have ensured that our staff have the right tools and support to work remotely and have access to offices when necessary.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated finance professional to provide financial advice and support to the organisation.

As a fully qualified accountant, you will possess excellent management skills to motivate and lead a team of finance professionals to deliver high quality financial advice and support to services.

You will complete required financial reporting, lead the council’s budget setting and monitoring processes, provide financial support to project teams and lead the council’s statutory year end reporting.

The Senior Finance Business Partner will challenge and improve existing processes and controls, strengthen governance and continually improve the quality of information used to support the council’s decision making. The council is undertaking a modernisation programme and you will be given the opportunity to be involved in this and a number of other projects including regeneration schemes.

You will have an understanding of local government and the environment in which it operates, and the ability and confidence to work strategically. You will also need to be a dynamic and highly motivated individual who can work effectively with managers at all levels with the confidence to present and provide advice to senior managers and other stakeholders.
