At Epsom & Ewell, we aspire to deliver high quality services to our residents. We might be small, but we have big plans to serve our population of 80,000 residents. We are investing in our future, increasing strategic capacity and exploring new ways of working. Our long-term vision for the Borough tells us where we want to be and how we’re going to get there.
The Commercial Services Manager is a new role where the postholder will have the opportunity to manage multiple commercial projects and operations, while enhancing the Borough, the Council and their own professional portfolio.
This new role will be crucial to delivering the vision and aspirations of local people, as well as driving forward key deliverables from our Four Year and Recovery Plans.
We are seeking an individual with an enterprising approach and significant experience of the successful management of customer facing, income generating services.
The role requires management of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the operation of the council’s venues and services including the Community and Wellbeing Centre, Bourne Hall, Playhouse Theatre, Harriers Athletics facility and Hook Road Area.
Services include all activities, events and refreshment in all our venues, Community Transport, Community Alarm and Telecare, Meals at Home, and development of activities and sports in our parks and much more.
Local government knowledge is desirable, but not as essential as being able to demonstrate strong communication, negotiation and contract management skills alongside a flair for developing complex financial modelling systems. You will be confident working alongside senior leaders and elected representatives and working in a highly pressured and sensitive environment.
You will join Epsom and Ewell Council at an exciting time when you can help shape its future as we build back better following the pandemic and organisational change. If you can strike the balance between sound operational management and creative solutions that will help us to achieve tangible business growth, we want to hear from you.
In return you will benefit from 24 days annual leave (rising to 29 after 5 years’ service), subsidised gym membership and car parking, payment of professional fees, entitlement to join the local government pension scheme, and non-contributory life assurance.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a professional and committed team and we look forward to receiving your application. For further details please go to www.epsom-ewell.gov.uk/careers or contact Ian Dyer on 01372 732519
