Here in our Housing Service we want to help our residents in all walks of life achieve their potential and improve their circumstances. We work to ensure the needs and wishes of all residents are heard, represented and they are empowered to achieve personal, social and economic success.

As an Income Management Officer, you will be responsible for collecting rent and managing arrears for approx 800-1000 properties. Reporting to the Income Management Team Leader you’ll provide an effective arrears & debt management service. This involves identifying residents at risk of falling into arrears and taking early action to get their finances on track. Preventative measures could involve helping tenants find work or training or helping them manage their money effectively.

You will need to know about income management, debt recovery, welfare benefits and legislation. Your expertise comes with a degree (or equivalent) plus a confident, customer-focused approach. You can think creatively, solve problems and present at county court level. With a gift for dealing with a wide range of people – from vulnerable residents to lettings officers and district judges – you’ll be equipped to reduce debt and evictions whilst encouraging regular payments.

You need to be self-motivated, flexible and well organised and be able to work with your customers, your colleagues and the wider team and partners in achieving the council priorities and objectives in relation to rental income. You’ll be part of a varied and dedicated high performing team where flexibility, hard work, passion and commitment go a long way.
