Emergency Planning Specialist

Some 165,000 people call the borough of Wokingham home.  With great schools, up-to-date facilities and a beautiful semi-rural location, there’s an exceptional quality of life – and it’s about to get even better.  Right now, we have major plans for the future, designed around our residents: 13,000 new homes, better infrastructure and a commitment to creating the best possible children’s services.

Wokingham Borough Council is looking for an Emergency Planning Specialist to support the council’s preparedness to react to any emergencies, to promote community resilience, and to prepare the Council for business continuity planning.

As experienced Emergency Planning professional, with experience in public sector business continuity planning, you will be an advisor to Directorate Leadership Teams, providing timely and high-quality business continuity advice as well as developing strong working relationships with key external stakeholders.

About you:

To be considered for the role you must have demonstrable knowledge of current emergency planning legislation, Integrated Emergency Management and Business Continuity Management. You should have experience of emergency planning and incident management, together with a proven track record of partnership working and project management.

Able to demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills, strong communication and presentation skills, you will also have an excellent track record in delivering a customer focused service.

About us

Employed by Wokingham Borough Council, you will enjoy all the usual benefits of being a local authority employee, including generous leave entitlement, membership of the local government pension scheme, flexi-time, and the opportunity for smart working.

You will be based in Wokingham town centre, a short walk from the railway station and easily accessible by car.  Currently most staff at WBC are working from home in accordance with government guidelines.  The future working pattern is likely to be a combination of flexible home working and office based.

Wokingham Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff, other workers, and volunteers to share this commitment.

To apply, please follow the link to the online application form.  CVs are not accepted.  If shortlisted for interview, Wokingham Borough Council operates a competency-based interview process.

Closing date:  11pm, Tuesday 15 September 2021.
