We are looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer to work within our busy Asset Management team.
Under the general direction of the Asset Manager & Principal Engineer you will provide professional and technical services consistent with your qualifications and experience in relation to the delivery of the council’s sustainable drainage, land drainage and flood risk management functions.
You will be required to assess and respond to planning applications on drainage related development proposals in regard to planning consents. In particular, review and promote the use of sustainable drainage systems in accordance with the SuDS Manual and the council’s Sustainable Drainage Supplementary Planning Document (with an emphasis on naturalistic drainage and green infrastructure design strategies), whilst fulfilling the duties of West Berkshire Council as a Lead Local Flood Authority.
Good communication skills are essential as you will be required to engage with external bodies on the use of sustainable drainage and the council’s drainage policies.
In addition, you will assist in developing and delivering flood management initiatives and projects and to discharge the council’s flood risk management and land drainage functions under the statutory acts. You will be required to develop and update the asset management database under the Flood and Water Management Act.
You will need to be a committed, enthusiastic and adaptable individual, who is willing to pursue further education and continued professional development.
You should hold a Degree and 3 years’ experience or BTEC Higher National Certificate in Civil Engineering or equivalent and 5 years’ experience.
