Project Engineer (Traffic and Road Safety)

If you wish to develop your career in Traffic and Road Safety, West Berkshire Council’s Highways Network Management Team could be your next step. We’ve become recognised as a fast-moving, modern and dynamic Council with a determination to provide high quality, value-for-money services – and that means ensuring that our staff have all the qualifications, skills and knowledge they need to do a professional job.

We have an opening for a Project Engineer and applications are welcomed from recently qualified graduates or more experienced Civil/Highway Engineers. We would also be interested to hear from Technicians wishing to make the step up to an Engineer-level post. The successful applicant will be rewarded with an excellent package including the opportunity to study for further professional development, flexible working hours and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

You will have the opportunity manage the design and construction of a variety of Traffic and Road Safety highway improvement projects along with the opportunity to get involved in accident investigation and prevention work. You will also be assisting other Teams within the Council in offering Traffic and Road Safety advice for new and existing signing and lining schemes and TRO’s and TTRO’s.

You will ideally be qualified to Degree level or equivalent and have proven experience in the design, management and supervision of Traffic and Road Safety highway improvement schemes and small Highway engineering projects.  In addition knowledge of the process of TRO’s and TTRO and the use of AccMAps and AutoCad Base signing and Lining design packages are also ideal.

West Berkshire Council offer excellent employment benefits such as flexible working, access to a wide range of relevant training, local government pension scheme, family friendly policies, a range of local discounts and much more. You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days per annum rising to a maximum of 33 days.
