More about the role:
The Governance Services team is looking for a part-time Committee Services Officer to join them in ensuring that the Council’s democratic process runs smoothly. You will do this by delivering high quality committee and scrutiny meetings, using technology to support virtual attendance at meetings and supporting Councillors and members of the public to be a part of the Council’s decision-making process. Ideally you will have experience in supporting committee meetings and the legal requirements of meetings and some experience of creating agendas and writing minutes. You will also be well organised with excellent administrative and communication skills and can work well under pressure.
You will be involved in the administration and clerking of appeals for School Admissions, School Transport and Exclusion Reviews. You should be able to communicate and support parents, schools and academies to ensure that a fair hearing is held for all parties.
For both parts of the role, you will need to have good IT skills to support the delivery of virtual meetings, webcasting content via our website, creating and managing agendas and managing an appeals database.
The Council’s current policy is for you to work from home but you would need to be available to attend face to face meetings. Most of our meetings take place during the day at Priory House but flexibility on rare occasions to attend community meetings during the day and in the evening would be beneficial.
Be part of a team that will be helping the Council to deliver its vision of being ‘A great place to live and work’. Join us and take advantage of our rewards package, agile working and the chance to learn and progress.
To assess your suitability for the role, you must demonstrate how you meet the key outcomes, accountabilities and competencies. To do this, you’ll need to refer the Family Profile, Role Profile and Competency Framework which can be found in the Recruitment Pack: Committee Services Officer
