Driver & Equipment Assistant

The starting salary for this role is £24,780 per annum for a 36 hour working week.

Surrey Fire & Rescue Service provide emergency services around the County, 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. Fire Service vehicles and equipment when used on emergency calls will be used in hazardous and life threatening situations. It is, therefore, essential that all vehicles and equipment be serviced and maintained to the highest standards to protect and safeguard Fire crews and the public from injury and to deal effectively and efficiently with the emergency.

As a Driver and Equipment assistant for the Logistics team you will be working as part of a small but crucial team. You will be an active team member in a vary varied role from moving vehicles to generally assisting the team delivering parts and many more duties. This will be over a 36 hour week Monday to Friday.

The Engineering Support Team's primary function is to service and maintain the equipment that the Fire crews use. This can be anything from a hose reel branch to a dry suit and everything in between. The driver and equipment assistant is crucial to front-line staff for the quality of service delivery. It is an extremely rewarding role where you get a lot of job satisfaction.

Previous driving experience is required but all other training will be provided. There is no requirement for a tacho card or CPC as we are exempt. The post holder will help to organise their own workload and set day-to-day priorities, but will have robust communication mechanisms with the Engineering charge hand and overall team to ensure continuity of service delivery.
