Children’s Rights & Participation Worker

The role of a Rights and Participation Worker keeps children and young people views and experiences at the heart of the Trust every day. In this role you will need to provide advocacy to children and young and provide a key role in supporting our children and young people’s participation groups.

In this role you will need to be able to build relationships with children and young people. You will have to attend a variety of professional forums and support children and young people to ensure their wishes and feelings are heard and that they are involved in key decisions that impact on them.

Our children and young people are central to increasing the Trust and external partners understanding of lived experiences and the impact of the services they deliver. Young people are heavily involved in service improvement, policy, practice, recruitment & training. In this role you can play a part in supporting changes to services. Our children and young people run their own campaigns and have influence within the Trust as well as having impact on regional and national changes.

Birmingham Children’s Trust is going from strength to strength. We are the largest provider of family support and social care services for children, young people and families in the country. Our goal is to become a centre of excellence in both social care and family support.

We have learned a great deal during the pandemic and we are reviewing the future of social work delivery in this context. As part of this we have placed a great emphasis on the progression of remote working and use of technology to enable us to continue working from our home locations whilst still carrying out an effective service. This role is based at The Lighthouse Young People’s Centre in Birmingham and encompasses the Trust’s progression of flexible remote working.
