Uttlesford District Council is looking for an Electoral & Governance Administrative Support Officer to join our team. Uttlesford is a thriving predominantly rural District in north-west Essex equal in size to half of Greater London, with international air (Stansted Airport), road and rail networks.
The principal role will be to maintain the register of electors and the associated property data base, process registration, absent vote and special category elector applications, and deal with all data production and distribution. The role will also involve helping to administer all elections and referendums and liaising as necessary with candidates, agents, election staff and parish councils.
The small but active electoral services team is part of the Legal and Governance Directorate and a key role of the post will be to provide administrative support to Legal and Data Protection Services, such as assisting with the processing of FOI requests. Performing the role will involve some out of hours working depending on workload, notably during election time.
Some previous experience in local government and of electoral administration is desirable but not essential. Suitable training opportunities will be provided. As well as the need to be trained in all aspects of electoral and FOI administration, specific training will be needed to operate the Civica Xpress Election Management System software and the FOI database.
