The starting salary for this role is £16.794.60 per annum and is based on a 21.6 working hour week.
Surrey County Council is seeking to recruit a part-time Paralegal (3 days a week) to work in the Property Team in Legal Services.
The person appointed to this post will have conduct of their own caseload consisting primarily of transactions relating to Deferred Payment Agreements which involves securing the Council’s financial contributions towards care fees by way of registration of a legal charge on property. They will also support the team of lawyers with their work on an ad hoc basis, assist with queries as appropriate and organise and present in-house training for clients, under supervision.
To be shortlisted for interview, applicants’ personal statements must demonstrate experience of or aptitude for:
- Courteous interaction with clients with exemplary client care;
- Undertaking negotiation of legal agreements;
- Ability to undertake research and present findings with accuracy;
- Providing solutions-focused and risk-aware advice;
- Working effectively and flexibly as a team; and
- Managing competing priorities to strict deadlines.
The successful applicant will receive comprehensive training and support.
The administrative base for the Council’s Legal Services is Woodhatch Place (Reigate), and we have a Support Team based at Dakota (Weybridge), however, the Council adopts an agile working policy with flexible working arrangements which includes access to both offices. We intend to continue working in a flexible manner in the future. The team are very approachable (even when working remotely) so there will always be someone to provide you with support and discuss matters with.
