Post: SENIOR LICENSING OFFICER Ref: SLO
Salary: £27,000 p.a, (37 hour week)

Broxbourne Council is seeking applications for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Senior Licensing Officer to join the Licensing team, based with Environmental Health. The Service is responsible for the administration of a number of functions, including alcohol, entertainment, late night refreshment, taxi and private hire licensing, gambling and gaming, street trading, scrap metal and small lotteries.
You will supervise other Licensing officers as well as overseeing all aspects of the section’s work in compliance with statutory and local timescales. You will be required to prepare and present reports at Committee and provide advice and guidance to elected Members, members of the public, licence holders, applicants and other stakeholders. Attendance is also required at Magistrate’s Court to represent the Licensing Authority on any subsequent appeals. Although attendance in the office will be required, working remotely is also an available option.
You will also be required to deal with enquiries or complaints, and identify breaches of legislation administered by the Council’s Licensing team. The Senior Licensing Officer is also involved in the processing of a range of application types, conducting visits, checking legal notices, advising, educating and assisting existing and prospective licensees and businesses.
Applicants will ideally hold a Licensing qualification or have proven experience in a local authority licensing environment. You should have detailed knowledge and understanding of licensing legislation procedure and practice. Supervisory experience, particularly in a licensing environment would be an advantage. A current valid driving license is essential.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
