Project Officers – STEM Learning Limited

Salary: £28,000 to £31,000 dependent on experience

We have some great opportunities for exceptional individuals to join us as Project Officers and be part of a world leading organisation supporting STEM education across the UK.

You will be educated to degree level or with substantial relevant project and contract management experience gained within a relevant environment.

With excellent communication, prioritising and planning skills, candidates must have experience of working simultaneously on multiple projects, at different stages, and have the ability to switch from one to another. The ability to write concise complex reports and proposals supported by excellent IT skills is also required.

Projects may be employer, partner or stakeholder facing and you should be able to demonstrate examples of effective relationship management external to an organisation.

You will contribute to cross-cutting activities ensuring best practice contract and project management within STEM Learning. An appreciation and understanding of STEM education and / or working with the voluntary sector is therefore desirable.

Some UK travel may be required to fulfill the roles.

Project Officer – Nuffield Research Placements – London


The NRP programme provides engaging, hands-on research projects, where Year 12 students have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution towards the work of a host organisation through a well-supervised but independent research collaboration relating to an area of science, social science, computing, technology, engineering or maths. Of particular focus for this role, the Project Officer will:

  • Coordinate:
    • the network of coordinators who recruit placement providers and students
    • the development and delivery of skills modules to support young people
    • the programme infrastructure
  • Work with national partners to promote and grow the programme
  • Support STEM Learning’s wider student programmes


Project Officer – Monitoring and Evaluation – London or York


The successful candidate will provide high quality project management support for the delivery of monitoring and evaluation outputs across STEM Learning CPD programmes.


They will work cross-functionally across teams to develop and maintain a systematic approach to programme evaluation, coordinating delivery with stakeholders internally and externally as appropriate to ensure high quality Monitoring and Evaluation outputs are delivered to time, cost and quality.


Candidates would benefit by having knowledge and experience of managing programme evaluation, including an understanding of how to evidence outcomes and impact to funders and stakeholders.

The National STEM Learning Centre & Network is a key UK resource for supporting STEM teaching and learning through provision of resources, on-line and physical networking and communities and partnership with a wide range of organisations and individuals. This includes driving forward on-going development of the STEM Ambassadors and STEM Clubs programmes alongside subject-specific support for all involved in teaching STEM subjects to young people.


These roles will play a crucial part in ensuring that the Centre and Network are able to continue to provide world-leading support to STEM educators and exceed the expectations of funders and other stakeholders.  These roles are instrumental in ensuring that all colleagues – internal and external - are aware of and benefit from high quality programme and project management tools which provide efficiencies and quality assured support.


Remuneration and benefits

These roles offer a salary of between £28k to £31k dependent on experience, and enable access to the USS pension scheme, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays and a wide range of staff benefits.
