We are looking to appoint a Legal Services Manager / Deputy Monitoring Officer / Principal Planning Lawyer. You will lead the legal service, identifying and implementing service improvements with a small team of experienced lawyers, DPO and land charges service staff. You will act as Deputy Monitoring Officer and provide sound Planning Law advice across both contentious and non-contentious areas. In addition, you will have a solid experience of a range of local government law and be able to supervise other lawyers in the team.

The role will be demanding yet varied and rewarding. The postholder will be a key member of the Team, taking responsibility for their own caseloads as well as positively contributing to the work of the rest of the team. Our Development Management Team are a busy team with lots of interesting work needing legal support to include, a progressing new local plan, major planning applications, planning performance agreements, processing and assisting in negotiations on s106 agreements, enforcement matters and appeals.

To be successful in this role you must have excellent interpersonal and IT skills. You will also have a confident methodical and organised approach to your workload, be calm under pressure with the ability to work to strict deadlines.
