Job Title: Adolescent Practitioner (Youth Justice)
Location: Hemel Hempstead with some working across county required
Salary Range: £25,481 progressing to £30,451 pa (pro rata for part-time)
Hours: 22.5 per week

The Central Youth Justice Team, within Specialist Adolescent Services Hertfordshire (SASH), holds high end Court Orders and those with Intensive Supervision and Surveillance requirements. The SASH Youth Justice role in the team involves direct working with young people on Court Orders, their families and carers, partner agencies and supporting the work of the Senior Practitioner on ISS cases.
The postholder will hold a caseload of lower end Court Orders and will provide input and interventions for the intensively managed high level Court Orders held by the Senior Practitioners. The job will involve working from home, working from the office, some working away from the office, travel around county and on occasions out of county. There may be some early evening working and opportunities to contribute to group work.
The successful postholder will be experienced in working with young people from diverse backgrounds and their families with an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities. They will be able to engage young people in crisis and sustain their commitment and creativity in working with them over extended periods of time, to support them to make changes to reduce their risk of further offending and to keep themselves safe.
The postholder will also be able to work closely with parents and carers, supporting and enhancing parenting skills. In addition to skills in direct working with young people and parents, the postholder will have the ability to work collaboratively and closely with colleagues and partners, excellent skills in time management, record keeping and the ability to present information clearly in writing to panels and to Courts.
