Mental Health Social Worker/Approved Mental Health Professional

A full-time, vacancy has arisen within the Complex Intervention and Treatment Team for a Mental Health Social Worker/Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).  The team is based in Clevedon within Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership Trust.

This is an excellent opportunity and the person appointed will be expected to provide a strong social work perspective within an established multi-disciplinary team and to uphold and develop their social work skills and values.

The postholder will care co-ordinate a caseload of older adults with severe mental health needs, including dementia.  The work will involve complex decision-making, often with people whose capacity is impaired, positive management of risk, and the provision of support to service users, their families and carers, and to care agencies and care homes. This may involve Best Interest decision making. Experience with older adults and/or in mental health settings will be desirable as would AMHP and BIA qualifications.

There will be an expectation that if the successful candidate does not hold the AMHP qualification they must be willing to train as an AMHP. An interest in Safeguarding is also important as the appointed candidate will be expected to triage and assess Safeguarding referrals on a duty basis.

This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

For an informal discussion, please contact Jo Holmes, Integrated Team Manager on 01275 335300.

Anticipated interview date:       To be confirmed
