Systems Support Officer: Grade 5 - £22,183 - £24,491 (Permanent)
Some 170,000 people call the borough of Wokingham home. With great schools, up-to-date facilities and a beautiful semi-rural location, there’s an exceptional quality of life – and it’s about to get even better. Right now, we have major plans for the future, designed around our residents: 13,000 new homes, better infrastructure, and a commitment to creating the best possible children’s services.
Wokingham Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative individual to work in the Systems Support Team, to ensure that all benefits accounts are effectively and accurately reconciled in a timely manner.
The Systems Support Team works closely with Specialist colleagues across Incomes and Assessments, playing an important role in the compilation, completion and return of statutory grant and subsidy claims, performance indicator reports, and management information systems reports, for both internal and external use. The Team is also responsible for assisting with the planning and provision of the annual billing process, in accordance with the chosen timescale set by the Council and system suppliers.
The successful candidate will be able to work on their own initiative, taking ownership of their work, with the ability to interpret, extract and assess important information, especially numerical data. You will have a commitment to embracing change, striving to continually improve, as well as a strong customer service ethos and excellent communication skills.
You should be capable of working in an accurate and organised way and have a good eye for detail, assisting with improvements to make the team more efficient. It is essential that you can work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and adopt a flexible approach.
As the role includes responsibility to ensure that all appropriate security measures, upgrades, and amendments to IT systems are tested and implemented in accordance with any specifications set out by the service suppliers, you should have excellent general IT skills.
Employed by Wokingham Borough Council, you will enjoy all the usual benefits of being a local authority employee, including generous leave entitlement, membership of the local government pension scheme, flexitime, and the opportunity for smart working.
You will be based in Wokingham town centre, a short walk from the railway station and easily accessible by car. Currently most staff at WBC are working from home in accordance with government guidelines. The future working pattern is likely to be a combination of flexible home working and office based.
Wokingham Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff, other workers, and volunteers to share this commitment.
Wokingham is an equal opportunities employer.
